Formed in 1854, the Ballarat Turf Club is steeped in tradition. It has occupied its current site at Dowling Forest since 1972 and is now one of Victoria's major thoroughbred training centres. Dowling Forest is situated on 300 hectares of land at Miners Rest, 15 kilometres north-west of the central business district of Ballarat.
The Ballarat Turf Club boasts one of provincial Victoria's premier racetracks, and will host 27 race meeting in the 2015/2016 race season. The feature event is Sportsbet.com.au Ballarat Cup, the final feature event of the Victorian Spring Racing Carnival. The club also holds midweek races on various days throughout the year as well as Gold Nugget Day, Ladies Day, Christmas Party Race Day, Family Fun Race Day, the Porter Plant Autumn Cup and the Mother's Day Races.

CONDITIONS OF ENTRY & REMOVAL FROM THE RACECOURSE
A person who on the racecourse:
will be liable to immediate removal from the racecourse at the direction of the Club or Stewards.
The Club reserves the right to inspect bags at any time for security purposes. The Club reserves the right to refuse entry to any person, in its absolute discretion for any reason it deems appropriate. The Club is not obliged to give reasons when exercising this right.
PUBLIC PHOTOGRAPHY AT VICTORIAN RACECOURSES
A person may only take images of activities at the racecourse for personal use only and must not make available any images for commercial exploitation, sale or distribution by any person unless accredited by RVL.
Where the Club or the Stewards reasonably suspect that images are being taken for non-personal use, the person taking the images will be liable to immediate removal from the racecourse at the direction of the Club or the Stewards.

The Ballarat Turf Club is an easy 10 minute drive from the centre of Ballarat.
From Sturt St, turn right into either Gillies Rd or Midland Hwy (A300) and head north of the Western Freeway to Kennedys Rd, Miners Rest.
The Ballarat Turf Club is an 80 minute drive from the Melbourne CBD.
From the CBD, head west over the Westgate Fwy and take the Western Hwy exit, via the Western Ring Rd (M80)
Continue on the Western Hwy / Fwy beyond the Ballarat City turnoff, taking either the Midland Hwy or Gillies Rd exit north to Kennedys Rd.
The route to the race course is well signed.
V-line trains operate frequently from Melbourne and are a great way to travel to and from the races.
From Ballarat Train Station, the club is a short cab ride away.
Bus services also operate from other regional centres.
FOR THE SPORTSBET.COM.AU BALLARAT CUP The proposed connecting services with Vline arrivals and departures are as follows: Arrivals Ballarat Station 10:34 11:55 13:34 Wendouree Station 10:49 Departures Wendouree Station 16:51 17:55 19:02 Ballarat Station 16:56 18:00 19:07 In addition to meeting train services, buses will arrive at Little Bridge St from 10.15am to commence service from Little Bridge St approx 10.30am. Services will continue to run until approx 1pm or subject to demand. Prepaid GA & bus travel simply need to meet service $10 return wristband can be purchased from seller on day. Return service will commence departure from Ballarat Turf Club from approx 4.30pm or subject to demand. $10 one way wristband available to purchase from 4pm from attendants at the Public Gate. The return bus service will continue until approx 8pm or subject to demand and until racecourse is clear.
