Drouin Picnic Racetrack is situated 95 km south east of Melbourne via the Princes Freeway. The Course is neslted amongst the park surrounds of the Mathew Bennett Park and the Drouin Golf Club, about 500m south of the Freeway itself. The track is approximately 1500m in circumference, with a beautiful sweeping entrance to the home straight. The final stretch of the course is slightly uphill, and is notorious for providing close finishes and exciting racing. The turf racing surface is one of the best in the district.

The Drouin Picnic Racing Club is run by enthusiastic volunteers who see racing as their sport. They are the backbone of working bees and give their labour freely to keep this local institution going. Bound together by their mutual love and respect of the horse the Club members enjoy good social times and the satisfaction of plouging thousands of dollars of race day proceeds back into local charities.

Drouin's main race meeting is on Boxing Day, with the feature race being the Droiun Cup, usually the richest Cup of the Picnic circuit. West Gippsland Families flock to the lawns of the racetrack to have a post Christmas catchup. Businesses, too busy to do a breakup before Christmas, have their fun day out. Girls (and guys) get into the groove with fashions on the field. Kids go wild with all sorts of activities. And the racing and betting is keen. The track's layout allows for people to be (safely) right up to the horses, and this is geat fun. Picnics abound and the champagne runs freely.
