Terang & District Racing Club
Racing has been a part of Terang's social calendar since 1859 with races run on what today is the recreation reserve. The current site was established after the formation of the Terang Racing Club in 1868.
Although the Cup was once an autumn affair, Terang has secured a prime position in the Spring Racing Carnival with the Cup contested on the Sunday after Cox Plate Day. It is one of seven race meetings for the 2009-10 racing season.
Feature race days at Terang include the Terang Cup, New Years Day Racing and Easter Saturday Racing.
Dominating the Terang course is the historic iron grandstand. Built late in the 19th century to replace a predecessor destroyed by fire, the large structure almost runs the length of the straight. Despite its heritage, major renovations internally ensure modern facilities are available to patrons throughout the racing season.
