Geelong St Patrick's Racing Club
Geelong St Patrick’s Racing Club has a very proud history in Geelong, having been racing for the past 129 years. The club now holds a meeting once per year at Geelong Race Course and raises funds to support local charities.
The Geelong St Patrick’s Gold Cup is awarded to the winning horse in the 1400m cup field – the distance was changed in 2008 in the hope of attracting a larger field to the race.
On-course punters can enjoy a variety of packages in marquees, dining areas, purchasing delicious food from the food stalls or by bringing your own picnic.
The local charities which the club supports have included Anam Cara House, Barwon Youth Accommodation Service, Vincentian House and St John of God Health Care.
The Club is a sponsor of Time for Youth, a charity which it has supported for the past five years. Time for Youth makes a difference in the lives of young people and their families who are in crisis. Aged 12-24, these young people are provided with a range of services including: Crisis accommodation, youth housing and support, meals, development of life skills, counselling, mediation and support for parents. Time for Youth provides crisis housing at Mt Duneed and Colac.
