Get on a real winner and Make it to Mortlake! The Derby Day Mortlake Cup races are the big tip this Spring Carnival.

The Mortlake Racing Club was established in 1869 following a meeting of interested people at Mac's Hotel.

"Unofficial" racing had taken place at a location called the Manse which is opposite the local football ground in town. when the club was created it was allocated Crown Land at its current location in Connewarren Lane, approximately 2km from the town centre.

Over its existence the Mortlake Racing Club has faced the threat of closure from the governing bodies of racing within Victoria however the club has remained strong through several changes to racing's structure which has also meant that race meetings at Mortlake have diminished over time from four down to our annual Mortlake Cup meeting on Derby Day each year.

A purely volunteer-based club, our dedicated committee are proud of the contribution that we make to the racing industry and to the local community. From patching holes in the track following jump-outs, keeping the grounds looking pristine to erecting the very marquees that our patrons enjoy on race day, you can be assured that all people that "Make it to Mortlake" will see for themselves what a special club it is.

Mortlake has had a rejuvenation in recent years regular jump-outs being reintroduced to service the industry within the region and steady improvements being made to the racecourse infrastructure and facilities to ensure that we provide a friendly and professional service to our patrons, members and thoroughbred industry participants.

Our Derby Day Mortlake Cup meeting has proven to be a winner with patrons with a greater awareness of the club and the wonderful day of racing and activities that are provided throughout the day. Perfect for the punter, the socialite and for kids, your day at Mortlake will be a Great Day Out!
