CRV MEDIA RELEASE: Bourbonstreetblues Takes Top Honour



Bourbonstreetblues capped off his stellar racing season by being named the Betfair Victorian Country Racehorse of the Year at the Country Racing Victorian Awards at Betfair Park Sandown Racecourse today.

 
Bourbonstreetblues managed six wins and 2 placings in his 13 Victorian Country starts in the 2009/2010 season.  Of these six wins, five of them were at Country Cups, Stawell Cup, Kyneton Cup, Terang Cup, Horsham Cup and Murtoa Cup.
 
Trainer Daryl Cannon described the achievement of winning this award as a fitting final honour for his beloved horse.
 
Bourbonstreetblues other non cup win was at Coleraine over 1600m.
 
Cannon said the benefits of easing the 8YO gelding into racing were on display as patient connections reaped the rewards with Bourbonstreetblues earning $190, 477 in prizemoney this season.

Prior to the awards night, upon hearing of Bourbonstreetblues nomination, Cannon described the horse as terrific to train, ride and travel, never giving him a day of trouble.
 
To be eligible for the Betfair Victorian Country Racehorse of the Year, a horse must have raced at least four times on a Victorian country racetrack and only its performances on Victorian country racetracks are judged.
