Teams of five will compete in a Tug-of-War Tournament at Wodonga's Easter Saturday (April 3) Race Meeting, with a cash prize of $2000 for first and $500 for the runner-up.

As well, there will be four random draws where a team will collect $250.

Wodonga & District Turf Club Manager Bradley Thomas said this was a great opportunity for people of all ages to have a great day out at the races with friends and in turn, attempt to win some valuable cash.

"Whether you're a sporting club, community group, the CFA, Rotary Club, a punters' club or social group; any group that is seeking funds for their annual trip away, this is an ideal opportunity to pocket some cash and have great fun at the same time," Thomas said.

Entry into the Tug-of-War Tournament costs $100. However, that fee covers entry into the Tug-of-War Tournament, entry for the five contestants and five supporters into the racecourse and a table for 10 in the exclusive Tournament marquee overlooking all the on-course action.

"It offers a Great Day Out environment in a prime location on the racecourse," Thomas said.

"We'll have the big screen in the centre of the racecourse showing all the action from the Group 1 Golden Slipper race meeting at Rosehill and all the battles between teams in the Tug-of-War Tournament will be in full view on the front lawn.

"This will be a fantastic Family Fun Day for people of all ages with a different angle to the usual racing mantra. In this Tournament, the first one to cross the line loses."
