Country racing plays a prominent role in the heart and soul of Victoria. When you hear the thundering hoofs of the thoroughbred meet the fresh country turf, racing truly comes alive.


Country Racing Victoria

Country Racing Victoria is responsible for the profitable conduct, management, planning and development of non-metropolitan racing in Victoria.
 
A registered company pursuant to the Corporations Act comprising of a Board of 10 Directors, Country Racing Victoria represents 48 professional clubs ranging from large clubs in the outer metropolitan areas of Melbourne such as Werribee, Cranbourne and Mornington to small clubs in rural areas such as Edenhope, Manangatang and Towong.
 
Country Racing Victoria Ltd. resumed the responsibility for the management of Picnic Racing on the 1st August 2005. There are 14 picnic race clubs conducting 33 meetings in the period November to mid-April. Picnic meetings are conducted regularly at venues such as Healesville and Woolamai, as well as unique annual meetings in regions such as the high country over the long weekend of March, when Omeo and Swifts Creek share the billing.
