Pakenham Racing Club

Steeped in history, the Pakenham Racing Club was formed in 1875. Renowned for being a progressive race club, Pakenham has been at the forefront of many advances in racing including; the first race meeting in Australia where decimal currency was used and a fact which is unknown to many that colour TV was experimented at a Pakenham race meeting on 15 June 1967. Officially colour TV came to Victoria on March the 1st 1975.

The 2015/2016 season will see Pakenham host almost 40 Race Meets, including features events such as the Empire Guineas Day, Bruce Clough Mazda Cup and several twilight and night time races!

Located within an hour's drive of Melbourne on the city fringe, Pakenham provides a country atmosphere without the metropolitan price tag.

The Pakenham Racing Club operates two 7-days-a-week hospitality and entertainment venues - the Cardinia Club & Pakenham Sports Club. These are a vital part of our business and allow us to provide our members with a wide range of hospitality and entertainment options.
