Seymour Racing Club
The Seymour Racing Club was formed in 1882, although the first recorded meeting was on Boxing Day 1853.Soon after the turn of the century, the Club changed its name to the Seymour Turf Club. However, after a recess in racing during the Second World War, when the army took over the racecourse, the Club reverted to its original name in October 1947.
In the past 10 years the Seymour Racing Club has grown from hosting 10 race meetings per season to 20 meetings in 2008/09. The key events are the Darley Seymour Cup in October and the Christmas Party Race Day in December.
The Club has focused on improving its amenities and now presents a first-rate function and conference facility for raceday and non-raceday events.
The Club also provides an excellent training facility with three training tracks, including a thoroughtrack.
