Stawell (Wimmera RC)
The CENTREBET Stawell Gold Cup held annually on Easter Sunday is without a doubt the biggest racemeeting in the Wimmera. The meeting draws a bumper crowd as the town comes alive over Easter with much to see and do. Stawell is perhaps most famous for hosting the world's richest professional footrace - 'The Stawell Gift', with the final being run on Easter Monday. The combination of the two events over the one long weekend has proved incredibly lucrative for the town and provides for a fantastic Grampians Easter weekend getaway.
The 2012 CENTREBET Stawell Gold Cup, 8th April is going to be huge! It's already shaping up to be just as big and popular as previous years with bookings already being taken. This raceday is seriously fun with so much to experience: 'Fashions on the Field' - with different categories (Lady of the Day, Gent of the Day, Miss Teen & Little Miss & Mr) & amazing prizes to be won, an after-band will keep you rocking out on the lawn after the races, there are full marquee & package options available (be quick as they are very popular) free kids activities including a rock-climbing wall and bungee swing, a jumping castle and the CUB Clydesdale Horses - loads of entertainment for the kids!! This is a great family day out!
There will be buses running from Halls Gap & Lake Fyans Caravan Park with a return for $10. There will aslo be a free courtesy bus to the races and back into town after the races. There is also full catering, tote and bar facilities available on-course and when all the action is done and dusted at the racecourse you can catch a lift into town on one of the free courtesy buses - it couldn't be any easier.
Stawell is also host to the Stawell Christmas Raceday, 8th December. Stawell quite literally turns it on again with this raceday with Christmas parties being the main focus here. With Christmas only 2-weeks away the atmosphere is nothing short of fun and festive. Family and friends are the key on this day with free kids activities, live music and a visit from a certain someone who 'knows if you've been naughty or nice'..... So bring along the troops and ease yourself into the Christmas spirit and join in the fun at the Stawell Christmas Raceday.
Stawell holds an additional four racemeetings throughout the year, all of which are Mid-week Racemeetings. If a chilled-out experience is what you're after come see us on and get your race on!! We always have full catering, tote and bar facilities available on-course.
