Warrnambool Racing Club

Welcome to the Warrnambool Racing Club, home of the internationally acclaimed Wheelie Waste Grand Annual Steeplechase. The racecourse is situated on the eastern outskirts of Warrnambool, set in a picturesque valley providing excellent natural viewing platforms. The Warrnambool Racing Club conducts 20 race meetings per season highlighted by feature racing in spring, summer and autumn. All roads lead to the 'Bool' in the first week of May each year as the Club conducts the internationally acclaimed TAB Warrnambool May Racing Carnival. The Warrnambool Racing Club strives to develop a vibrant and growing platform to display the thoroughbred racing industry to a worldwide audience. The Club is steeped in over 160 years of history and remains the jewel in Country Racing Victoria's crown.

V/Line oferates three daily services between Melbourne and Warrnambool with coaches connecting from Warrnambool to the Great Ocean Road, Port Fairy and other surrounding areas.
Once in Warrnambool, bus no. 159 travels past the racecourse.

Head east on Princes Hwy away from City centre towards Melbourne,
Turn left at Grafton Rd

Warrnambool is the largest city in the Great Ocean Road region, located 263km south-west of Melbourne, an easy 3 hour drive via Geelong on the Princess Highway or Hamilton Highway. Or if you choose to come along the Great Ocean Road, please allow approximately 6 hours drive.

WHALE WATCHING

Warrnambool is known as Victoria's Southern Right Whale Nursery. Almost every year, between June and September, female Southern Right Whales return to the waters of Warrnambool's Logan's Beach to calve. The Whales often swim within a hundred metres of the shore and can be viewed from a specially constructed whale viewing platform in the sand dunes or from the beach.

FLAGSTAFF HILL MARITIME VILLAGE

The Flagstaff Hill Maritime Village in Warrnambool is situated within an hours drive of the 12 Apostles on the Great Ocean Road. Flagstaff Hill is Warrnambool's premier attraction providing the vital link between the culture and heritate of the Shipwreck Coast and the contemporary Great Ocean Road experience.

TOWERHILL RESERVE

Tower Hill Reserve, nestled inside a dormant volcano, is today a beautiful haven for wildlife. Kolas, emus, kangaroos, sugar gliders and many species of waterbirds - including the graceful black swans - roam freely throughout the reserve.
